The patent map is a technical assessment of an individual patent document. It is written in easy to understand, but technically correct language. The patent map allows the reader to more deeply understand the patent than if it were read as published by the patent office. It identifies the problems that the patent innovation attempts to solve and the technical scope of its protection. The patent map usually answers how specifically the recipient should take action to cope with competitive patents. For example, it can provide sufficient information to design a patent picket fence or decide how to get around a specific block of inventions. |
